Castor Tracker is a community science project exploring how beavers change their environment over time.
Photo monitoring stations are located across Alberta, where community scientists use their smartphones to photograph beaver dams, ponds, and sites with beaver mitigation measures throughout the year. These photos help us track changes in beaver activity, water levels, and mitigation sites over time.
The Castor Tracker network is actively expanding, with additional monitoring stations planned for the coming months. As the network grows, these observations will help us better understand how beaver systems change over time and support effective, sustainable approaches to living with beavers.
